Cheese and Spring Onion Beer Bread Beer bread!
Ingredients
- 500g self-raising flour
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 125g cheddar, in small cubes
- 3-5 sprigs finely chopped spring onion
- 340ml beer (1 bottle)
- 50ml water
- 1 T thyme
- Freshly ground salt
Method
- Pre-heat oven to 180 degrees C, and grease a small loaf tin or dish.
- Sift flour and salt together in a mixing bowl. Stir in the beer, water, cheese, spring onion and thyme. Add a little water if the dough seems too dry. Mix until all the flour has been moistened and the dough forms a cohesive mass.
- Transfer dough to the loaf dish, sprinkle with freshly ground salt, and p lace in the pre-heated oven.
- Test with a skewer after about 45 minutes or when the top is golden brown - if the skewer comes out clean, remove from oven.
- Leave to cool for 10 minutes and serve.
