Soft Rolls Lovely soft rolls for burgers

Ingredients

  • 333 g cake flour
  • 5 ml salt
  • 10 ml sugar
  • 20 g margarine
  • 2 tsp instant yeast
  • 83 ml milk
  • 125 ml lukewarm water

Method

  1. In the bowl of an electric mixer, mix the flour, salt and sugar together.
  2. Rub the margarine into the mixture with the fingertips. Add the instant yeast and mix.
  3. Using spiral dough hooks, mix on minimum speed, gradually mixing in the water and milk to form a soft dough.
  4. Knead for 1 minute on minimum, then increase speed and knead for 4 – 5 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  5. Cover the bowl and leave to prove in a warm, draught-free place for about an hour, until dough has doubled in size.
  6. Using the dough hooks again, knead on minimum speed for 30 – 60 seconds to knock back the dough.
  7. Transfer to a lightly floured surface and divide into 8 equal pieces. Shape into round balls.
  8. Place the balls, with spaces between them, onto a greased baking tray. Cover with greased plastic and allow to rise in a warm place, about 20 – 30 minutes.
  9. Bake in a preheated conventional oven at 200 °C, or thermofan oven at 180 °C, for about 20 – 25 minutes, or until golden brown.
