Blancmange A quick and easy dessert.
Ingredients
- 250 ml milk
- 25 ml sugar
- 50 ml cornflour
- 2.5 ml vanilla OR 15 ml cocoa powder
Method
- Make a smooth paste with the cornflour and a little cold milk. If using cocoa, add it to the cornflour.
- Heat the rest of the milk.
- Pour the hot milk over the cornflour paste, and stir well. Pour back into the pot, and return to the stove.
- Boil for 5 minutes, stirring constantly. Add the sugar and vanilla. (Omit the vanilla if cocoa was used).
- Pour into a wet mould and allow to cool. Place in refrigerator until set.
- Turn out onto a serving dish and serve with jam sauce or stewed fruit.
